History - In 1947, Kurt Strauss was 20 years old working as a watchmaker for Major Jewelers, a small jewelry company located in Queens, New York. When owner, Fred Major decided to sell his store, Kurt ambitiously purchased it and began the family run business we know today. Kurt and Marc Strauss were the ultimate father and son team offering personalized service, hard work and dedication. The neighborhood jewelry store sought out quality merchandise from diamonds, fine jewelry & watches and continued to grow with the additions of Kurt’s daughter, Giselle, her daughter Sara, nephew Ronnie and Marc’s son, Adam. In the late 1980’s Markens Jewelers and Cambridge Jewelers opened up in popular shopping malls like Roosevelt Field, Queens Center and Green Acres Mall. In 1993, the loss of Kurt Strauss motivated the family to continue to pursue his dream and develop the family business. 70 years later, four Pandora franchises and four jewelry stores are open spanning from Long Island, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. Today, the Major Group offers exceptional service with superior merchandise to their lifelong and valued customers since 1947.
